ROMAN MARION BUCON

Roman Marion Bucon, age 96, passed away May 1.

Roman was born in Polichna, Poland on January 15, 1928, to the late Josef and late Felicja (Babicz) Bucon. He immigrated to Chicago where he met his wife, Anna Popinski. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Anna Bucon, and his daughters, Barbara LaRocco and Irene (Michael) Lyewski. He was a wonderful grandfather to Nicholas Adam (Rose) LaRocco, Steven Alexander (Jennifer Borilla) LaRocco, Alexandra Nicole (Christopher Thunherst) Lyewski, and Michael Dylan Lyewski. He is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Theodore Adam LaRocco, his brothers, Edward, Tadeusz (Zosia), and Stefan Bucon, and his sister, Donuta Kapusta. He is also survived by many nephews, a niece and many friends. Roman was a proud veteran of The Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland where he served as a Corporal. He was a former District XII Commissioner of the Polish National Alliance and served in various capacities in its lodges. Adam Guzek, age 54, passed away May 6.

DALE R. KASTEN

Dale R. Kasten, retired 28-year Firefighter/Paramedic Veteran of the Bridgeview Fire Department, age 76, passed away May 11.

Beloved husband of Susan Kasten (nee Kane); loving dad to Kimberly Kasten and Kevin (Kelli) Kasten; dear grandpa of Maxwell and dear grandpa Dale to Dawn, Faith and Grace Nelson; fond brother of Carl Paul (Nancy) Kasten. Also survived by nieces, nephew, great niece, great nephew, relatives and friends.

Dale joined the Bridgeview Fire Dept. in 1969 as a volunteer fireman and found his calling to help others. After several years he took the test to become a full time fireman and became one of Bridgeview’s first full time firefighters in August 1971. After a few years he decided to attend the first Paramedic School class at Loyola University Hospital, where he found another way he could help others. He passed the class and became one of the first Paramedics for the Bridgeview Fire Dept. in 1977. He took many continuing education classes and became an Instructor for new EMTs and Paramedics. Eventually he became EMS Coordinator for the Fire Dept. He was passionate about his job as a fireman/paramedic and keeping the people of Bridgeview safe as well as teaching the incoming men and women that would eventually replace him. In 2000 Dale retired from the Fire Dept. and took the job as part time Rental Housing Inspector for Bridgeview. During that time he joined the Bridgeview Emergency Services & Disaster Agency (ESDA) where he became a commander and headed up their communications. A role for which he was known fondly at home as “The Master of Disaster”. When the building of Toyota Park was completed in 2006, Dale was involved in setting up the Communication Center and became Director of Communications. This was a position he held and loved until he passed away. Prior to joining the Fire Dept., Dale was a Ford mechanic. Everyone knew that if they had an automobile problem Dale could fix it or else he had a guy to take care of the problem. Dale loved working on cars but also collecting and flipping them. When Dale became a grandpa, first as Grandpa Dale to Faith and Grace and then as just Grandpa to Max several years later, he again found a calling in life. Dale loved them with all his heart and supported all of their endeavors. He frequently went to dance recitals, musicals, plays, music concerts at school, baseball and basketball games, band concerts and grandparents day where he showed how proud he was of each and every one of them. They made his life brighter just as he did for them. He fit into the grandpa role without effort. Dale devoted many years to helping people and serving the Village of Bridgeview where he lived for almost 54 years. He will be missed by many in the community and beyond and even more greatly by his family.

KENNETH J. KEIM SR.

Kenneth J. Keim Sr. passed away peacefully June 8, four days after his 82nd birthday. U.S. Navy Veteran.

He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (nee Piwnicki); loving father of Kenneth K. (Lisa) Keim, Gregory (life partner Martha) Keim, Julie (John) Senka and the late Lisa Anne Keim; dearest grandfather of Stephanie, Taylor, Karly and Abby; proud great grandfather of Aubrey and Everly. Kenneth will be missed by his two pets, Kit Kit and Monty.

Visitation was held June 13 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). A Service in Celebration of Kenneth’s life with Military Honors was held at the funeral home on the evening. PETER R. MURPHY

Peter R. Murphy, 65, of Palos Heights, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on June 10, 2024.

He was born at Fort Belvoir in Virginia on June 6, 1959, to the late Virginia and Morgan “Joyce” Murphy.

He was the beloved husband of Kimberly (Winslow) for 42 years, and loving father of Erin (Danny) Strickland, Daniel (Stephanie) Murphy, and Robert Murphy; cherished grandfather of Kiara, Arianna, Maggie, Molly, and June. Dear brother of Stephen (Janice) and Morgan Daniel (Barbara) Murphy. Pete was preceded in death by his brothers Mark (Mary Ann), Michael (Patricia), and sister Susan (David) Basler. Fond brother-in-law of Bonnie (Ron) Conrad, Sharon Winslow, Cindy (Rick) Patrinellis, Dale (Bonnie) Koebcke, Lavonne (Jay) Allord, the late Pam (Thomas) Barr, and the late Darlene (Tim) Pryszcz. Special uncle to 34 nieces and nephews; proud cousin to many Murphys and O’Connells. Loyal friend.

Following graduation from DePaul University with a degree in business, Pete enjoyed a successful international business career at AkzoNobel. He retired as a Senior Vice President of Human Resources in 2016. Since retirement, his focus has been on family, writing, travel, and coaching, while fighting multiple cancers. His last acts of generosity were participating in human drug trials and donating his body to science.

ANDRZEJ “ANDY” PASCIAK

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Andrzej “Andy” Pasciak, who left us May 9, at the age of 53.

Born on November 28, 1970, in Podwilk, Poland, Andy embarked on a courageous new chapter at the age of 19 by moving to the United States. After first meeting his future wife at a wedding in Poland, Andy truly connected with her after settling in Chicago. Their first date took place at a small burger joint on the South Side of Chicago near Kedzie Avenue, where, as they learned to order fries in English, they began their life together. Andy and his beloved wife were married on August 24, 1991, and were blessed with two sons, Kevin, born in January 1992, and Martin, born in November 1993. Andy devoted his career to the trucking industry, starting as a mechanic before establishing his own trucking company, through which he traveled across the United States. His travels across the country were driven by a steadfast purpose—to provide for his family and ensure they had the best possible life. His work ethic was unparalleled, but it was his insatiable curiosity and desire to learn that truly defined him. From computers to machinery, Andy never missed an opportunity to acquire new knowledge or engage in conversation. Beyond his professional and intellectual pursuits, Andy’s heart was always with his family and friends. His generosity, warmth, and genuine interest in the well-being of others made him a cherished figure in his community. His love for people was evident in everything he did, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. Andy’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance, the joy of continuous learning, and the enduring strength of familial love. Though his departure from this world was too soon, his legacy will live on through the lives of those he touched. We invite all who knew Andy to join us in celebrating his life and the countless memories he gifted us. His story is not just one of success and affection but also an inspiring reminder of the impact one life can have on many. Andy will be profoundly missed, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
