From staff reports

A Burbank man was charged Monday with six counts of felony disorderly conduct for his role in allegedly setting off false fire alarms dating back to March.

Palos Park police said they initiated an investigation on March 18 after they were contacted by the Palos Fire Protection District regarding numerous reports of false alarms.

In each case, the district received an emergency call but found there had been no call for service when they contacted their dispatch center, Orland Fire Central Dispatch.

Palos Park police identified a vehicle that was in the vicinity of the fire stations when these incidents occurred.

Palos Fire Protection District personnel were put on alert for suspicious vehicles or persons near their fire houses.

On the evening of March 19, Palos Park police responded to a call at the Palos Fire Protection District Station 1 for a false fire alarm.

Police located a male subject on the scene who had been confronted by Palos Fire Protection District personnel.

Palos Park police temporarily detained and identified the subject. During a search of the subject’s vehicle, portable radio equipment was located and taken as evidence for the investigation. The subject came in for a voluntary interview at which time his mobile phone was seized for investigation.

After investigative review, a coordinated investigation was developed with the Riverside Police Department, the LaGrange Park Police Department and several other suburban law enforcement agencies, the contents of the subject’s phone were examined, and video evidence was obtained.

On July 1, Michael J O’Conner 26, of Burbank, voluntarily surrendered to Palos Park police investigators.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved six felony counts of disorderly conduct against O’Conner.

He was charged and released with a notice to appear at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Palos Park police cited the dedication of Patrol Officer Austin Pudinoff, Patrol Sgt. Ross Chibe, LaGrange Park police investigator Nick Spurgash, and Palos Park detectives Michelle Marano and Daneille Scaccia.
