The restaurant Biggs at the Bridge, at the corner of Marquette and Cicero, will be reopening on April 1. This neighborhood gem will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, according to an announcement. Enjoy a burger, hot dog, steak sandwich, tacos, chicken, shakes, breakfast items and so much more. This is a “to go” place or eat in your car. They have a big parking lot. In nice weather you can eat at their outdoor area.
Before we know it, Midway Baseball Association’s regular season will start at Madigan Park, 4701 W. Marquette Road, just around the corner from Biggs at the Bridge. Stop by Biggs and pick up some food on your way to enjoy a baseball game. I do want to say that Midway Baseball has a concession stand, and their food is top notch. Either way, you will be well fed as you cheer for your favorite team.
West Lawn Little League Baseball is coming back. They first formed in the 1950s and play at the field located at 64th and Kilbourn. West Lawn Little League has provided athletic opportunities for boys and girls for so many years. They are now seeking volunteer coaches, equipment managers, concession stand help and board positions. The Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, 6500 S. Pulaski, will be presenting Verdi’s Requiem at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. This is the fourth and final opera in their concert video performance presentations. For tickets and information, call them at (773) 582-6500.
Hubby and I were recently driving past Continental Sales Lots 4 Less, just south of 63rd and Cicero, and decided to go in and waltz through the store. We found lots of bargains on everything from household cleaning products, gift bags, foods, toys, school supplies, slippers, candles, seasonal decorations and more.
I noticed at the front of the store an area called Friendly Neighborhood Corner. This is a space dedicated to the community. There is a bulletin board for people to post information about neighborhood events, youth programs, volunteer opportunities and anything else you would like to share. There is also a “Little Free Library” where you can take a book or leave a book. I believe they are open every day. Call Continental Sales at (773) 581-8100 for information on days and hours.
