Joan M. Murray (née Watson) passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Murray.
She was a cherished mother to Cheryl (Jack) Juliano, Patricia Witkowski, Timothy (Gloria) Murray, Barbara (Nicholas) Tully, and Michael (Jennifer) Murray.
She was a loving grandmother to Jacqueline (Adam) Miller, Joseph Juliano, Katie Witkowski (Frank) Mohler, Jennifer (Dane) Scheepers, Timothy Jr. (Staci) Murray, Lori (Matt) Vazquez, Kelly (Mike) Cavaligos, Nicholas Tully Jr., Bridget (late Joe) Pavlik, Michael Jr. (Nhan) Murray, and Lindsay (Matthew) Skora. She was a loving great-grandmother of many.
Joan was a longtime resident of Chicago’s Clearing community and a parishioner of St. Rene Goupil Parish. She was a member of St. Rene Goupil Altar and Rosary, a past member of St. Rene Mother’s Club, and a member of St. Rene Seniors.
She was preceded in death by her sister June and brother-in-law George Cortilet. She is survived by her nieces Karen (late Paul) Harjung, Judy Wierman, and Carol (Ron) Albrecht, and her nephew George Cortilet Jr.
Visitation: Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, 4 to 8 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem).
Visitation and Mass: Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Two Holy Martyrs Parish St. Rene Goupil Church. Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Interment: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A procession will follow from the church to the cemetery, where Joan will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
