The village of La Grange hosted the 35th annual Race Unity Rally on Sunday, Sept. 13, drawing a full house to the auditorium in the village hall.
The event honored two community members.
Tamiaka Killins received the service award. Sherry Robinson received the diversity achievement award. Both have been active in the community; Kllins continues to work at La Grange-Township High School.
Katherine Padgett, immediate past president of the La Grange Historical Society, spoke at the rally.
Reverend Meredith Onion. senior associate minister at First Congregational Church in Western Springs, provided the invocation.
The Caring Place Choir, led by La Grange Village Trustee Shawana McGee, performed.
The La Grange-Townsend High School step team also performed; Killins is the founding coach.
