With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William (Billy) J. Vavrek on August 18, 2026, at the age of 47. Billy was born and raised in Berwyn, Illinois, by George and Carol (died 2024) and lived a life marked by compassion, loyalty, devotion, and dedication.
Billy spent many years working as an I.B.E.W. 134 electrician for Freeman Co., where he was known for his work ethic, dedication, and commitment to others.
Billy was passionate about many things, but none more than fishing. He loved to take fishing trips with his dad and brother. He also loved to be out and about with friends at some of his favorite local establishments, including MA’s, Marlins, Juniors, and Reggie’s. Even a simple trip to McDonald’s to get a Diet Coke was something Billy enjoyed, often using the opportunity to make phone calls to friends just to catch up.
Billy was a devoted White Sox fan and loved the Bears. Many of his favorite things were reminiscing about old times, sharing stories about memories from the past, and listening to his favorite 80’s rock bands.
As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the love, loyalty, and compassion that were at the heart of who Billy was. Billy loved his family and friends deeply and would do anything for them. He will be truly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Billy is survived by his father George Sr., his brother George Jr., and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.
