Thanks to lousy weather, Countryside’s Summer Concert Series is going into overtime.
Originally scheduled to end Aug. 6, the concert series will now run into September after two weather disruptions forced rescheduling.
Toxic Crayon, a Western Springs-based band, was supposed to play July 16 but was postponed to Aug. 20 because of unhealthy air quality from Canadian wildfires on the original date.
Cadillac Groove’s performance on June 11 – the series’ first night – was rained out, pushing the Southern rock, blues, R&B and soul music band to Sept. 3 as the new series finale.
Cadillac Groove will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 3 at Countryside Park. Pisa Pizza and Rainbow Cone will be on-site as food vendors.
City officials said the Toxic Crayon show drew a solid crowd – considering it wasn’t scheduled for that night – and are hoping for a similar turnout for the final concert.
This is the first time the summer series has extended into September.
