The village board on Aug. 24 unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with Western Springs for the resurfacing of Gilbert Avenue, which forms the border between the two communities.
Western Springs was awarded a $55,000 grant in March 2023 through the Investing Cook program to fund Phase 2 engineering services for the Gilbert Avenue resurfacing project from Ogden Avenue to 47th Street.
Under the agreement, each village will be responsible for approximately 25% of the construction and engineering costs not covered by federal surface transportation program funds or other grant funding—an estimated $159,657 per village.
The agreement allows Phase 3 engineering services and construction to commence.
