Runners, walkers and families gathered Saturday for the 15th annual Germazing Race 5K Run/Walk and Kids Obstacle Course at St. Germaine School.

Participants began arriving early at the school, 9735 S. Kolin Ave., where race-day registration opened outside the Activity Center from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. The event drew a mix of seasoned runners and casual walkers, along with children eager to take part in the morning’s activities.

The 5K race stepped off promptly at 9 a.m. from the corner of 98th Street and Kolin Avenue. The out-and-back course took participants through the surrounding neighborhood before returning to the same location for the finish.

Organizers said all 5K participants were required to register and wear race bibs, ensuring accurate timing and identification throughout the event. Children in kindergarten through eighth grade who took part in the 5K registered alongside adult runners.

Following the race, awards were distributed recognizing top finishers in various categories.

The focus then shifted to younger participants, as children from prekindergarten through second grade lined up for the Kids Dash obstacle course. The event began at 10:30 a.m., giving younger attendees a chance to navigate a series of fun, age-appropriate challenges.

The annual Germazing Race has become a staple spring event for the school community, bringing together students, families and neighbors for a morning of fitness and fellowship.
