Joy M. Jacobs, 89, of Peotone, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Riverside Miller Healthcare in Kankakee.

Born on November 23, 1936, in Peotone, she was the daughter of Erwin and Sarah (Gray) Jacobs. Joy was a graduate of Peotone High School and worked on the family dairy and crop farm. She was a dutiful daughter and cared for both her parents until the time of their passing.  She then spent many years serving as a well-known and trusted caregiver for numerous people in the community, allowing them to stay in their own homes.

Joy was a longtime member of the Peotone Presbyterian Church and then the Manteno Community Presbyterian Church, following the churches’ merger. She was an active participant in all the church events, including the annual craft fair. She enjoyed reading and doing various types of craft work.

Joy is survived by her niece, Beverly (the late Chester) Johnson; her great-niece, Cathy Johnson and her great-nephew, Greg Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Sarah Jacobs; her brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Lila Jacobs; and her sister and brother-in-law, June and Wayne Stassen.

Visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone, on Saturday, August 29, from 1-3 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., with Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating. Private burial will take place at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee.  Memorials may be given to Manteno Community Presbyterian Church.
