Get ready to “fall” for many events happening in our community this autumn.
First off, this Sunday, Oct. 8th is a free Flamenco guitar and dance show at Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, 6500 S. Pulaski. The entertainment starts at 3 p.m. and the entertainers are Marija Temo & Karensa De Mars.
Pencil in your calendars for a holiday craft bazaar at the museum on Nov. 19 from noon to 4 p.m.
Fourteenth Ward Ald. Jeylú B. Gutiérrez is offering a flu and COVID-19 vaccine booster event on Oct. 11 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. It will be held at Nightingale School, 5225 S. Talman. Pre-registration is encouraged. If you have any questions, please call 773-236-0117.
The Archer Heights Branch Library has a load of activities this fall for families and children. There is an art club, story time, play time, exploring wildlife sessions and Halloween crafts. Please visit chipublib.org/events for a list of all events. But I always encourage please take a walk over to the library and visit the many treasures it holds.
Get to those sewing machines and be creative for your furry friends this Halloween. Byline Bank, 4970 S. Archer, is holding its 3rd annual Halloween Pet Costume Parade. All pets are welcome on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be vendors on site.
Speaking of Oct. 21, here in the Midwest we celebrate Sweetest Day. Not too many folks even know of this day outside of the Great Lakes region. It is a day to celebrate loved ones.
