Monee Trustee Scott Youdris told the village board that state Rep. Anthony DeLuca (D-80th) has expressed an interest in trying to help resolve the Golf Vista Estates conundrum.
Residents of the manufactured home park in Monee have been battling GVE management over a laundry list of issues for months and have approached the village board for some assistance.
Youdris said that he had a quick conversation with DeLuca at the recent Illinois Municipal League Conference, and will meet with him soon for an in-depth talk.
“I was able to talk to him briefly afterwards about our situation with Golf Vista, to try to see if there were some ideas, you know, that we can get,” Youdris said.
“And it’s going to be an extended conversation. He didn’t have time then, but I will be sitting down with him and having a conversation on that.”
Youdris also noted that the conference included programs on data centers, security and safety for public gatherings, and recent legislation.
“One of the last sessions that I attended was talking about data centers which, along with solar panels, is becoming a huge issue,” he said.
“And while it didn’t really change my opinion about data centers, it really made me stop and think about the way to move forward with them–ordinances or ways to handle and work with the companies that are coming in–because in a lot of instances, it’s more inevitable that we’re going to see something coming into the area.”
The IML discussion, he said, offered “a way to work with it, a way to understand it, kind of work through some of the misconceptions that are out there.
“So, it was a great session, probably one of the best sessions I’ve attended in a long time.”
