Firefighters pulled a person from a burning home on Manor Court early Friday, and the patient was later flown to a regional burn center, according to the New Lenox Fire Protection District.

Crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire about 5:32 a.m. on Oct. 9, the district said. The first fire crew arrived within four minutes and began fighting the fire and searching the home.

During the search, firefighters found the occupant and brought the person out, the district said. The patient was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a regional burn center.

The fire was confined to the kitchen and brought under control within 10 minutes of the first crew’s arrival, according to the district.

Firefighters also found the resident’s dog, which is now in the care of a local animal shelter. No firefighters were hurt.

The Mokena and Frankfort fire protection districts and the New Lenox Police Department helped at the scene.

Investigators from MABAS Division 19 and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office are working to determine the cause.
