The Midway Chamber of Commerce has rescheduled its Hispanic Heritage Celebration for Sunday, Sept. 27, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Midway Marketplace Retail Sheds, 6402 W. Archer Ave., (the corner of Archer & Narragansett). The event was originally scheduled for Sept. 20 but was rescheduled because of rain.
“Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is important to us because Hispanic-owned businesses, families, and residents are such an important part of the Garfield Ridge and Midway communities,” Tala Morales, Midway Chamber of Commerce Social Media Director, said. “Our retail shed vendors actually helped come up with the idea of doing themed pop-ups at the Midway Marketplace about once a month, and the Hispanic Heritage Celebration was one of the themes they really wanted to do.”
Activities include an hour of yoga at noon for $10. Registration is open at midwaychamber.org. Interested participants must sign up in advance to secure a spot; 20 spots are available. There will also be free Lotería (Mexican Bingo) from 1 to 3 p.m., hosted by MarGo’s Treasures, one of the marketplace vendors. Lotería is open to all ages; participants should bring their own chair and can win prizes.
Visitors can shop from local craft and food vendors, who will have authentic and inspired Hispanic products.
“For the chamber, it’s an opportunity to celebrate the cultures represented in our community while also giving local small businesses a place to connect with residents and showcase what they do. We hope everyone feels welcome to come out, celebrate, and support the locals!” Morales said.
Parking is available in the Biz Hub lot at Archer and Narragansett and on Narragansett across from Fifth Third Bank.
