Monee residents can get some help with storm damage-related expenses, courtesy of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Village Trustee Scott Youdris said during the September 9 board meeting that the SBA “opened up a Disaster Loan Outreach Center located at our Public works building on 5755 W. Industrial Drive.”
“Low-interest loans are available for damages from the July 27 windstorm. Damages from the Aug. 11 tornado are pending,” he said.
“Homeowners, renters, non- profit organizations and businesses may be eligible to receive low interest loans, at the following rates. Homeowners are as low as 2.8%, businesses 4 % and non-profits 3.6% with terms up to 30 years. Hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
“Walk-ins and appointments are available or go to sba.gov/disaster or phone 800-659-2955. “Applications will be accepted until Oct. 19, 2026. for physical damage and May 18, 2027. for economic injury. Additional information will be available on the village webpage.”
In his public safety report, Youdris added, that Monee Emergency Management Agency was called to 5406 W. Hilltop on Aug. 17 for traffic control due to a Structure Fire. EMA provided four traffic units for 1.5 hrs.
Also, on Aug. 29, EMA was called to Crete-Monee Road and Will Center for an accident with injuries. EMA provided 2 traffic units for 2 hours.
