Rene Germaine McFadden

Rene Germaine McFadden, born in Chicago on December 16, 1960, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, surrounded by family. She was 65.

Rene had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and loved. She was deeply involved in her community, known for her kind and giving spirit, always willing to help others and share what she had.

One of the causes especially close to Rene’s heart was supporting veterans. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Lockport, Illinois, and a few years ago designed and made commemorative bracelets for veterans who took part in the Honor Flight from Midway Airport. Her thoughtful creations were a personal expression of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

Rene was also an artist at heart. She loved designing and creating her own jewelry and beautiful sun-catchers using beads, crystals, and other colorful materials. Her creations reflected her creativity, warmth, and eye for beauty. She found joy in making things with her hands and, even more so, in giving those creations to others.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Arlene (nee Germain) and Edward Kasper; her sister, Deanna McFadden (Christopher Welch); her life partner, Christopher Grider; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Geraldine (nee Coote) Germain, and her father, William E. McFadden.

Rene’s greatest gifts were her heart and her ability to connect with people. She gave freely of her time, her talents, her friendship, and her love.
