Loretta Ann Herm, 89, peacefully departed this life on September 4, 2026, at Franciscan Village in Lemont, Illinois. She was born on June 22, 1937, in Swanton, Ohio, to Joseph D’Amore and Rosa D’Amore (nee Larusso).
Loretta was a loving mother to Lawrence Herm Jr. (Susan) and Rita Herm-Barabasz (Gregory). She was the devoted grandmother to Ryan (Joanna), Eric (Blair), Emily, and Zachary, as well as proud great-grandmother to Jake, Javi, Ellee, Frannie, and Henry. Loretta cherished every moment spent with her family, taking immense pride and joy in their accomplishments and happiness.
A graduate of Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio, Loretta built a career as an office manager for several companies, including DSI and Inryco.
Faith played a central role in Loretta’s life. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Palos Hills, Illinois, where she lent her voice to the church choir for many years. During her time in Florida, she continued to share her love for music by participating in the choir at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida.
In later years, Loretta enjoyed travel with her husband, Lawrence, exploring Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Herm Sr., and her siblings, Rose D’Amore (Louis), Grace Braida (Louis), and Nicolina.
Visitation: Sunday, 3 to 8 p.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway.
Funeral Mass: Monday, 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Procession from the funeral home begins at 10:15 a.m.
Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Franciscan Village in Lemont, Illinois.
