Two men caught with stolen merchandise
Two men face retail theft charges after police responded to a theft in progress at Walgreens, 7041 S. Pulaski Road, at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 28.
Police said Joe D. Triplett, 31, of the 7100 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, and Terrance T. Haynes Jr., 29, of the 6500 block of South Maplewood Avenue, fled the store with bags of stolen merchandise and were arrested in the 3800 block of West 71st Street.
Triplett was charged with retail theft and criminal damage to property for breaking glass in a door. Haynes was charged with felony theft because the stolen items in his possession cost more than $500.
Attempted break-in leads to charges
Orlando A. Davila-Millet, 27, with no home address, was charged with residential burglary and battery after police responded to a disturbance at 5:08 p.m. Aug. 26, at a home in the 3100 block of West 66th Street.
A man told officers he fled when Davila-Millet punched him in the arm after banging on his front door and demanding entry. The man ran outside and called police. Davila-Millet was found hiding in the apartment building.
Man charged with criminal damage at home
James Connel, 41, was charged with criminal damage to property after allegedly causing a disturbance at his former home in the 6100 block of South Mayfield Avenue at 7:55 a.m. Aug. 29.
Police said he damaged a door when he tried to gain entry to the residence.
Felon found in possession of gun
Richard A. Graham, 38, of the 2700 block of West Jackson Street, was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon after police arrested him at 11:05 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 4700 block of South Cicero Avenue.
Patrol officers reported seeing him walking on the street and holding his side as if he was concealing a gun. When they asked him to stop, Graham started running. Police confiscated the Glock 19 handgun he was carrying.
Attack on woman results in multiple charges
Jonathan Israel Rivero Prieto, 37, was charged with domestic battery following a disturbance at his home in the 6300 block of South Maplewood Avenue at 5:22 p.m. Aug. 23.
Police said he punched a 27-year-old woman in the face multiple times and kicked and choked her. He was also charged with criminal damage to property for allegedly breaking two phones during the altercation.
Suspicious activity leads to drug arrest
Jose Paz Ruiz, 53, of the 2400 block of West 46th Street, was charged with possession of a controlled substance following a street stop at 5:51 p.m. Aug. 23, in the 3100 block of West 66th Street.
Police said he was acting suspiciously as he emerged from an alley. When officers stopped and questioned him, they found cocaine in his wallet.
Man charged following domestic attack
Juan Navarro, 42, of the 4400 block of South Keating Avenue, was charged with domestic battery following a disturbance at his home at 12:24 a.m. Aug. 26.
Police said he was carrying a knife and allegedly punched a man in the face and choked him. The alleged victim was uncooperative and did not want to press charges, but police filed charges anyway.
