Aggravated battery to officer 

Collin McEnery, 31, no address given, was charged August 8 with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, fleeing and eluding, and violating an order of protection after police said he spat in an officer’s face while being placed in a squad car. Police responded to Orland Health & Fitness on a report that McEnery was wanted on several arrest warrants. When officers arrived, McEnery fled and was apprehended in a nearby residential backyard, police said. 

DUI, wrong-way driving 

Keith DeHaan, 46, of the 9000 block of Kennedy Court, was charged August 14 with DUI, suspended registration, driving on the wrong side of the road and illegal lane usage after police said they observed him driving southbound in the northbound lanes near 149th Street and LaGrange Road. Police detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and said DeHaan admitted to consuming “a few beers and a few shots earlier.” 

Indecent exposure 

Raheem Bey, 25, of the 9700 block of Ravinia Drive, was charged August 14 with public indecency after police said he exposed himself to a female employee at H&M inside the mall. 

Retail theft, stolen property 

Maya Perkins, 35, of Mattoon, was charged August 15 with three counts of possession of stolen property and not wearing a seatbelt after police said she stole 13 pairs of jeans valued at $740 from three mall stores. Police stopped her near 143rd Street and found the items, which still had price tags attached, in her vehicle. She had two young children with her at the time. 

Aaron Bey, 28, of the 7400 block of South Eggleston Street, Chicago, was charged August 16 with possession of stolen property and possession of a theft detection device after police said he took several clothing items valued at $429 from Macy’s. He was given a lifetime ban from Macy’s and a three-year ban from the mall. 

Garcia Salas, 48, of the 11600 block of Keeler Avenue, Alsip, was charged August 20 with retail theft after police said she stole two cellphone chargers, reading glasses and hair gel valued at $84 from Meijer. 

Shontia Sanders, 38, of the 13100 block of Langley Avenue, Chicago, was charged August 21 with retail theft after police said she took five backpacks valued at $400 from Dick’s Sporting Goods. 

Victor Isom, 54, of the 1100 block of Moss Street, Hammond, Ind., was charged August 22 with retail theft after police said he stole 10 clothing items valued at $900 from Macy’s. 

Trevon Haywood, 30, and Krista Haiman, 32, of the first block of Cedar Lane, Justice, were charged August 23 with retail theft for taking 34 grocery items valued at $377 from Mariano’s. 

Amani Awawda, 37, of the 6800 block of Lode Drive, Worth, was charged August 24 with theft after police said she took 26 items valued at $1,232 from Macy’s while rolling them up and placing them into bags. 

Disorderly conduct 

Terrence Clyne, 68, of the 15400 block of Catalina Drive, was charged August 19 with disorderly conduct after police said he got into a fight during a homeowner’s association meeting at the Orland Park Public Library. Police said Clyne used “slang terms” to address other attendees during the heated discussion. He was given a lifetime ban from the library. 

Mohammed Abu Sharekh, 41, of the 5400 block of West 129th Place, Crestwood, was charged August 24 with disorderly conduct and assault after police said he asked a female Von Maur employee to engage in a sexual act and threatened to beat up an employee. 

Driving under the influence 

Emily Malley, 24, of the 9000 block of Basswood Drive, Tinley Park, was charged August 23 with driving under the influence after police conducting a well-being check on a vehicle parked at Panda Express found her slumped over in the driver’s seat with the engine running. Police said a second woman appeared unconscious in the backseat. Both women “appeared disheveled” with mumbled speech and could not remember where they had come from or how long they had been in the vehicle, police said. Both confirmed they had been at a bar the night before. 

Weapons, drug charges 

William Warford, 20, of the 17600 block of Mulberry Avenue, Country Club Hills, was charged August 25 with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis, possession of alcohol by a minor and unauthorized window tinting after police stopped him near 151st Street and 94th Avenue for heavily tinted windows. Police said they smelled burnt cannabis and found small traces of cannabis and a vape pen in the vehicle. 

Police report information is provided by law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken. Persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
