Woman charged with trespassing at Jewel
Tamara V. Watson, 52, of LaGrange, was charged with criminal trespassing after police responded to a disturbance at Jewel, 9424 S. Pulaski Road, at 6:24 p.m. Aug. 23.
Store employees said they had recovered items Watson took and she became verbally abusive and repeatedly refused to leave. She was arrested after going back into the store when responding officers escorted her out and charged with two additional counts of resisting arrest because she struggled with them.
Watson is due in court Sept. 24.
DUI charge follows traffic stop with passenger in sunroof
Mariah O. Adams, 20, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at 1:01 a.m. Aug. 23 in the 4200 block of West 111th Street.
Police noticed the car because the passenger, Ragad Mustafa-Pearson, 26, of Oak Lawn, was sticking her upper body through the sunroof. Adams failed field sobriety tests and a breath sample registered 0.163 blood-alcohol content, more than twice the legal limit.
Adams was also cited for obstructing identification for initially providing a false birthdate and underage alcohol consumption. Mustafa-Pearson was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and having open alcohol.
Both women are due in court Sept. 24.
Man charged after fleeing crash and threatening tow truck driver
Jorge Rodriguez Jr., 27, of Calumet City, was charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing and numerous other offenses following a traffic crash at 2:25 a.m. Aug. 24 in the 9400 block of Southwest Highway.
Police were called to the scene by a tow truck driver who said Rodriguez struck his vehicle with his own car and threatened to shoot him, although no gun was displayed. Rodriguez fled from police but was eventually pulled over.
Additional charges include criminal damage to property, obstructing a peace officer, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and leaving the scene of an accident.
Rodriguez was due in court Aug. 25.
Jewel employee charged with theft
Maria P. Zapata, 44, of Burbank, was charged with theft after allegedly taking merchandise worth $417 from Jewel, 9424 S. Pulaski Road, at 9:50 a.m. Aug. 27.
Store employees said Zapata was an employee who took bags of merchandise set aside for pick-up orders and put them in her car. Police were called when she refused to return them.
Zapata is due in court Oct. 16.
Man found asleep at wheel faces drug, traffic charges
Clarence S. Manning, 41, of Chicago, was charged with obstructing traffic and other offenses after police found him asleep at the wheel at 12:54 p.m. Aug. 26 at 95th Street and Southwest Highway.
Police also charged him with illegal possession of 8.5 grams of cannabis in a vehicle, driving without insurance and not carrying his license.
Manning is due in court Sept. 16.
Woman with revoked license and warrants arrested
Gina M. Petri, 41, of Oak Lawn, was charged with felony aggravated driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop at 1:09 a.m. Aug. 27 in the 5000 block of West 111th Street.
Police said she had three outstanding Cook County arrest warrants. Petri was also charged with driving without a valid license, no insurance and failure to use a turning signal when required.
She was held pending a detention hearing at Bridgeview Courthouse for the outstanding warrant.
