Woman charged with burglary after turning herself in

Savannah M. Ramirez, 29, of the 6500 block of South Kedvale Avenue, turned herself in at the Chicago Lawn District police station, 3420 W. 63rd St., at 10:12 a.m. June 30 and was charged with burglary.

Police said a warrant had been issued for her arrest in connection with a June 18 incident on her block. According to police, Ramirez allegedly entered a 24-year-old man’s home under false pretenses and stole a MacBook computer and a Sony PlayStation gaming console.

Registered sex offender arrested in Marquette Park

Damien G. Terry, 48, with no listed address, was charged with being a sex predator in a public park at 8:43 p.m. June 29 in Marquette Park, 3400 West Marquette Road.

Police responded after Terry allegedly pestered and harassed mothers with children. As a registered sex offender, he was prohibited from being in the park. Police said he was taken into custody when he refused to leave.

Man charged with aggravated battery and harassment

Marcus A. McNeal, 42, of the 6200 block of South Albany Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery, home invasion and telephone harassment following a disturbance at his former residence at 9:10 a.m. June 29.

Police said McNeal was moving out when he got into a fight with his former partner’s new boyfriend. McNeal was also charged in connection with earlier incidents in which he allegedly called a 31-year-old woman repeatedly from unknown numbers.

Man charged after firing gun on July 4

Javier G. Madriz, 69, of the 1600 block of West 37th Street, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm after police responded to a report of shots fired at 1 a.m. July 4 in the 3600 block of West 55th Street.

Police said Madriz was intoxicated and witnesses reported seeing him firing a gun in the air. When detained, police recovered an unloaded 40mm Glock 23 handgun.

Woman charged with stealing phone from car

Branisha Washington, 20, of the 9600 block of South Brennan Avenue, was charged with theft after allegedly stealing a phone from a woman’s car at 11:05 a.m. July 2 in the 3600 block of West 86th Street.

Police said the 43-year-old victim told them Washington opened the car door and grabbed her cellphone off the front seat.

Traffic stop leads to gun charge

Jamal C. Lacaze, 18, of the 7900 block of South Troy Street, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, improper display of registration, possession of a gun with a defaced serial number, illegal possession of cannabis and alcohol in a vehicle following a traffic stop at 2:31 a.m. July 3 in the 8200 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

Police said they initially stopped Lacaze for not having a front license plate and noticed a 9mm handgun under his clothing.

Man charged with domestic battery

David Alexander Arreola, 31, of the 3500 block of South 55th Court, Cicero, was charged with domestic battery when police responded to a disturbance at a home in the 5500 block of South Archer Avenue at 1:19 a.m. July 5.

Police said Arreola allegedly pushed a 34-year-old woman to the ground, causing abrasions.

Man charged with retail theft and resisting arrest

Jermaine E. Dunlap, 40, of the 1500 block of South Karlov Avenue, was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest following an incident at Target, 4343 S. Pulaski Road, at 4:41 p.m. July 3. Police said Dunlap took items worth $229 from the store and fled on foot after store security tried to take him into custody. Witnesses identified him when police found him a few blocks away. The merchandise was recovered.
