Knife-wielding man charged
Nicholas G. Ricci, 22, of the 6200 block of West 64th Place, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal damage to property following an altercation at 10:35 a.m. June 17 at a Dunkin’ coffee shop in the 5700 block of West 63rd Street.
Police said Ricci displayed a knife and threatened to injure a 68-year-old man during the incident. Officers took Ricci into custody one block away, on 64th Street.
Domestic battery escalates to assault on police
Miguel E. Andino, 32, faces three felony counts of aggravated battery of a police officer for allegedly spitting on officers who responded to a disturbance at his home in the 6000 block of South Whipple Street at 8:08 p.m. June 16.
Police said Andino was heavily intoxicated when he answered the door and began spitting on the officers. He also faces two counts of domestic battery for spitting on a 70-year-old woman and punching a 36-year-old man during the altercation.
Andino was taken to a hospital for treatment of hand injuries sustained when he punched a television during the incident.
Traffic stop leads to gun charge
Yair De La Torres Marquez, 21, of the 6000 block of South 76th Avenue in Summit, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, driving with a suspended license, and operating an unregistered vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop at 6:36 p.m. June 20 in the 6300 block of South Archer Avenue.
Police said they discovered a semi-automatic handgun when De La Torres Marquez reached into a book bag he removed from the car.
Milk theft leads to arrest
Monique Chavez, 20, of the 6100 block of South Oak Park Avenue, was charged with theft and resisting arrest following an incident at 1:10 a.m. June 20 in her apartment building in the 6100 block of South Oak Park Avenue.
Police responded to a theft in progress and said Chavez allegedly stole two gallons of milk left in a hallway. She struggled with officers during detention.
Fugitive charged with aggravated domestic battery
Juan C. Aguero Salgado, 32, of the 2600 block of West 69th Street, was arrested on a fugitive apprehension warrant for aggravated domestic battery at 1:14 p.m. June 22 in the 2700 block of West 59th Street.
Police said he was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred June 11 in the 6100 block of South Western Avenue. He allegedly struck a 28-year-old woman and attempted to strangle her.
Man arrested with stolen merchandise
Hector Medina, 56, of the 5400 block of South Sawyer Avenue, was charged with felony aggravated retail theft and criminal trespassing following his arrest at 9:19 p.m. June 18 at the CTA Orange Line station at 4900 South Kedzie Avenue.
Police responded to a theft in progress at a TJ Maxx store on the same block. Medina allegedly left the store with bags of merchandise worth more than $300. He had been previously prohibited from entering the store.
Three women charged in apartment fight
Three women face charges following a physical altercation with a 32-year-old woman at about 1:30 a.m. June 19 in the 4300 block of West 77th Place.
Jordan Johnson, 26, a roommate of the victim, was charged with aggravated assault and battery for allegedly threatening the victim with a knife and pulling her hair.
Kennetha Porter, 42, of the 1200 block of Princeton Drive in South Holland, was charged with battery for allegedly pushing the victim with both hands when she attempted to leave.
Kanyetta D. Reed, 43, who also lived at the residence, was charged with criminal damage to property for allegedly throwing the victim’s personal items out of the house and breaking them.
