The La Grange Fire Department promoted two veteran firefighters to leadership roles, filling vacancies in the department’s command structure.

Chris Cox, a 19-year veteran, was sworn in as captain. Chris Conrad, who has served 20 years full-time with the La Grange Fire Department, was sworn in as lieutenant.

Both men were sworn in during the June 8 village board meeting with family members present. The promotions, approved April 6 by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, mark the first leadership changes in the department in recent years.

Cox has served as lieutenant since November 2020 and holds numerous Illinois Office of State Fire Marshal certifications. He has also served as the department’s quartermaster for many years and resides in Bolingbrook with his wife and son.

Conrad has been a member of MABAS Division 10’s HAZMAT team and currently serves as a MABAS 10 investigator. He is secretary of the Foreign Fire Tax Board and union board president. Conrad holds an associate’s degree in fire science and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fire administration.
