Allan had a lifelong love of music. It was not uncommon to hear him spontaneously sing a few bars of one of his favorite songs or dance down the hallway to a tune playing on the radio. One of his proudest claims to fame was singing backup on the 1960 hit song “Girl of My Best Friend” by Ral Donner. His enthusiasm for music was contagious and brought joy to those around him.

He was also a devoted sports fan who faithfully cheered on the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears through every season, celebrating the highs and enduring the lows with unwavering loyalty.

After graduating from St. Patrick High School, Allan proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving as a drill sergeant at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he trained soldiers preparing for service.

Following his military service, Allan built a successful career in the automotive parts industry, working for more than 20 years as a buyer at J.C. Whitney of Warshawsky & Co. in Chicago. A hardworking entrepreneur with a dream of owning his own business, Allan later founded Shamrock Performance Automotive in LaGrange, Illinois, where he worked until his retirement.
