Residents are invited to dust off their bicycles and enjoy a morning of fresh air, family activities and neighborhood camaraderie when Pedalpalooza returns to the Church of the Transfiguration next month.

Now in its second year, the free community event is set for Saturday, Aug. 8, at the church, 12219 S. 86th Ave. Organizers hope the event will once again bring together cyclists of all ages while offering something for everyone, whether they plan to ride or simply enjoy the festivities.

Pedalpalooza returns to Palos Park this summer.

“The Church of the Transfiguration is hosting a community event and bike ride on August 8th,” said Palos Park resident Traci Dawodu. “This is our second year hosting the event, which is free and open to the public.”

The morning begins with a 25-mile ride for more experienced cyclists. Check-in opens at 8 a.m., with riders departing at 8:30 a.m. Families and casual riders can participate in a 5-mile community ride beginning at 10 a.m., with check-in starting at 9:30 a.m.

While cyclists take to the road, the church grounds will come alive with activities designed to entertain visitors throughout the morning. Food trucks, carnival games, crafts, face painting and a balloon artist are all planned, creating a festival atmosphere that extends well beyond the bike rides.

The event is intended to encourage residents to spend time outdoors, connect with neighbors and celebrate the joy of cycling in a welcoming environment. Whether participants are looking for a challenging ride or simply an opportunity to make summer memories with family and friends, organizers say Pedalpalooza offers something for every age and ability.

Admission is free, but registration is required for those participating in either bike ride. Riders can register in advance by calling the church at 708-448-1200.
