
Robbery suspect arrested on warrant
Darius D. Roberts, 19, of the 4400 block of South Lavergne Avenue, was arrested on a warrant at his home at 11:03 a.m. May 24 and charged with aggravated robbery in connection with an incident that occurred Feb. 18.
Police said Roberts indicated he had a weapon and robbed a 17-year-old boy in the 6300 block of South Ashland Avenue.

Man charged with sexual assault and other offenses
Francis Paredes, 36, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated sexual assault and other offenses when police responded to a disturbance at 11:35 p.m. May 24 in the 6100 block of South Fairfield Avenue.
Police said officers found him arguing with his brother. It was unclear whether Paredes lived at that address.
Paredes was wanted for failure to appear in court for a previous arrest. In addition to aggravated sexual assault, he faces charges of aggravated sexual abuse, domestic battery, aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery.

Theft of computer leads to charges
Samer Abuhabsah, 46, was arrested and charged with theft at 9:48 a.m. May 20 at his home in the 3700 block of West 84th Place.
Police said he stole a computer tablet and accessories from someone and attempted to sell them at a pawn shop.

Man charged after taking own car without paying for repairs
Darrion Jackson, 36, of Gary, Indiana, was charged with theft of labor or service following his arrest at 1:28 a.m. May 19 at an auto repair shop in the 3300 block of West 47th Street.
Police said Jackson entered a yard where his vehicle was stored and drove it away without paying for repairs. He also faces a criminal damage charge for breaking a gate when he opened it the wrong way.

Domestic battery arrest made
Victor Manuel Mendoza, 41, was charged with domestic battery at his home at 12:57 p.m. May 22 in the 3500 block of West 60th Place.
Police said he wrapped his arm around a 65-year-old woman’s face, causing minor injuries.

Public drinking leads to drug possession charge
Dorian R. Benford, 51, of the 6900 block of South Claremont Avenue was charged with possession of a controlled substance following his arrest at 4:07 p.m. May 22 in the 6400 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
Patrol officers found him drinking an alcoholic beverage in an alley and stopped to question him. Police said he was carrying crack cocaine and a pipe used to smoke it.
He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drinking in public.

Illegal gun found during traffic stop
Vince R. Ramirez, 20, of the 6000 block of South Keeler Avenue, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon following a traffic stop at 12:55 a.m. May 23 in the 6600 block of South Kedzie Avenue. Police said a Ruger handgun was in plain view on the floorboard of his car. He was also charged with driving without insurance and suspended registration.

Driver with outstanding warrant arrested with cocaine
Mario A. Ruiz, 47, of the 2400 block of South Pulaski Road, was charged with possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop at 8:15 p.m. May 22 in the 3000 block of West 66th Street. Police said he had an outstanding warrant and a bag of cocaine was found in his pocket. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license and illegal transportation of open alcohol.
