Kyriaki Leftakes, a Hickory Hills resident who devoted her life to raising a large Greek family and doting on her grandchildren, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was surrounded by family.
Mrs. Leftakes was born Kyriaki Venardos in Greece. She immigrated to the United States and married Dionisios “Danny” Leftakes, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by five children: Steve Leftakes; Zoe Koutsis; Athena Awadallah; Nicholas Lambros Leftakes; and the late Gus Leftakes. She had 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Leftakes was the sister of Tassoula and Georgia, and the late Dionisios, Spiro, Gerasimos and Panagiotis. She was the aunt of many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law of Athina Manos and the late Margetta Strouza.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 7560 South Archer Road, Justice, Illinois. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Bethania Cemetery.
