Stefania Sophie Kowalski, known as Stefcia, a devoted parishioner and volunteer at Saint Daniel the Prophet Church, died April 9, 2026, in Chicago. She was 77.
She is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Brettell and Eva Ulewicz; one granddaughter, Kalina Ulewicz; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jozef Kowalski; her parents, Janina and Jan Kudelka; and her siblings, Irena Wolodkowicz and Mieczyslaw Kudelka.
Kowalski was born April 23, 1948, in Poland. She was a parishioner and volunteer at Saint Daniel the Prophet Church in Chicago, where she was active in parish service and community activities.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, Illinois.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at Saint Daniel the Prophet Church, 5358 S. Nashville Ave., Chicago.
Prayers and a procession will begin at the funeral home at 8:45 a.m.
Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.
