Carl Sandburg High School is welcoming one of its own back home. Dr. Lexi Fosco, a Sandburg alumna, has been appointed the new Division Chair for Math and Business, the Consolidated High School District 230 Board announced. She will assume her new role this August.
Fosco comes to Sandburg after leading districtwide data strategy as Director of Data and Analytics at Hinsdale Township High School District. In that role, she analyzed student performance trends and helped teachers integrate consistent data use into instructional planning. Her work focused on improving instructional decisions and supporting all students’ learning.
Before moving into analytics, Fosco spent six years teaching mathematics at Hinsdale South High School, covering courses from Algebra 1 through Precalculus. Her experience in both the classroom and administrative leadership gives her a unique perspective for guiding the Math and Business division at her alma mater.
“I am incredibly excited and deeply honored to be returning to Carl Sandburg High School,” Fosco said. “This opportunity is a perfect fit for me. I look forward to supporting the strong work already underway while learning, contributing, and growing alongside my fellow educators.”
Principal Dr. Derrick Smith praised Fosco’s combination of leadership and classroom experience. “Her commitment to students and her data-informed approach make her an excellent fit,” he said. “I am confident she will bring a balanced, student- and teacher-centered approach to this role.”
Fosco earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Iowa and holds two master’s degrees, one in Education Teacher Leadership from Elmhurst University and another in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. She also earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
