A brief Peotone Village Board meeting approved the budget that was detailed at the March 17 board meeting earlier this month.
Per administrator Nick Palmer, some highlights include a maintenance of the fund balances over 30 percent, which is in line with village policy, along with increases overall in all fund balances. One highlight is an increase in travel center revenue and incremental sales tax revenue. Also, another contribution to the police pension fund will bring the pension fund to almost 53 percent funding, plus an additional highlight includes a $50,000 downtown business facade improvement program.
Palmer added the budget presentation is online on the village website.
An increase in authorization for the purchase of computers was needed and approved. Palmer added that approval for $7,000 for the new computers already was approved, but the price came in higher than expected. The computers are dated, and Palmer said the updates were needed to run more efficiently. The additional authorization for $1,559.52 was approved.
A special event permit for the Peotone Historical Society Old Mill Fall Fest was approved under consent agenda. The permit allows for a two-day event with a band and beer service Saturday night and the traditional Fall Fest on Sunday. Street closure will be on Corning between Mill and Conrad Streets.
