Crete Village Administrator Michael Smith told the board of trustees last week he and Trustee Mark Wiater have met with architects representing a company that wants to locate in the Park of Commerce.
Smith said during the November 11 board meeting the company plans to build an approximately 100,000-square-foot building. More information will be coming in the future, he added.
Smith also met with owners of the gas station project on Main and Exchange about possible solutions that can be presented to Illinois DOT to fulfill their requirements. Smith said he is hopeful a resolution is near.
At the same time, Smith reported Stevenson Crane has bought the old Universal Steel Building at 255 W. Burville Road and is making the necessary plans to move into the building.
During Trustee reports, John Phelan said summer plantings have been cleaned up and are ready for winter.
Trustee Holly Milburn has been contacted by the group working on lead service lines. The lead service line replacement program is progressing, but may be completed in phases due to costs.
In another matter, trustees unanimously approved an ordinance authorizing the village to borrow money through the Public Water Loan Program. This is associated with the Beckwith water main project.
An ordinance also passed unanimously to modify the TIF redevelopment agreement between the village and Crete 2, LLC. The modification gives the developers of the project at Main and Exchange an additional six months to complete the project.
Additionally, three ordinances – annexing, rezoning, and issuing a special use permit for property in the area of Old Monee Road and Sangamon – were continued to the November 25 meeting.
