LORRAINE S. BIZUB
Lorraine S. Bizub (nee Czerniak), age 96 was called home by our loving God and Savior on Friday, July 12.
She was the loving mother of Andrew J. Bizub, Jr., Allen, Michael (Marlene) and Christopher Bizub; dearest grandmother of Mark, Paul, Catherine, Sarah and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Andrew J. Bizub, her brother Richard (Gertrude) Czerniak, her sister Lillian (John) Krupa and sister-in-law Mary Bizub. She was the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was active in Five Holy Martyrs parish throughout her lifetime including past president for several terms of the FHM Seniors, Rosarians, FHM Post 500 Ladies Auxiliary, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and Pro-Life organizations. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and Commentator at Sunday masses and had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother.

Visitation was held at Szykowny Funeral Home on 4901 South Archer Avenue on July 24. Funeral mass was at Five Holy Martyrs Church on 4327 South Richmond St. on July 25. Internment followed at Resurrection Cemetery.
THERESE M. BLAZEK
Therese M. Blazek, age 74, passed away July 4.
Dearest friend of Christopher Blazek, Nancy Blazek, Gerold Blazek and Amanda Blazek; cherished daughter of the late Mary Louise C. (nee Wyszynski) and the late Joseph W. Poradyla. Loving sister of James (Barbara) Poradyla and Lisa (the late Kenneth) Farrell.
Terrie had an amazing life, loved by many, with numerous accomplishments. She grew up on the southwest side of Chicago. Terrie studied emergency/trauma nursing at St. Anne’s Hospital School of Nursing and went on to graduate with an RN from the University of Illinois, a BA in Art, and a BS in Interior Architecture from the Art Institute of Chicago. Terrie was a devout Catholic and briefly pursued a religious life. As an RN she worked in the emergency room, ICU, and CCU, and then co-founded Dreyfus Medical Services, a Nursing Agency. As a gifted interior designer, she contributed to the designs of high-schools, hospitals and the Naperville Children’s Museum. Her passions were painting, cats, horses, crafts, and creating custom dolls. She spoke French and loved her numerous trips to Paris. May God Bless her.

Fernando Castaneda, age 31, passed away July 13.
Born on March 29, 1993, Fernando lived a life full of passion, kindness, and dedication. Fernando had a deep love for cars and could often be found immersed in his automotive passions. He was known for his incredible kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His dedication and hard work were evident in everything he did, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Jaime J. Hernandez, 90, passed away.
He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Amparo (Toscano Mata). Devoted father of Jaime L. (Leslie) Hernandez, the late Sandra P. Hernandez, Diana (John) Kraft and Dora (Michael) Sokolowski. Proud Grandpa of Maria, Paul (Kasia), Christopher, Peter, Joseph and Marissa. Adored Great Grandfather of Isabella. Dear son of the late Leonardo Hernandez and Enriqueta Torres. Fond brother and uncle of many.
Jaime was born and raised in the Back of the Yards and spent majority of his time participating in softball, basketball, bowling, and more.
Jaime went on to serve our country and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1956. Jaime spent his time after his service traveling to Mexico, where he met his beloved wife, Amparo, and proposed just two weeks later.
He was a retired truck driver and member of Teamsters Local 710. Member of the Settlers Social Athletic Club and Mary McDowell Settlement House. Lifelong Chicago Cubs Fan. He spent much of his free time attending games with his son, including Game 3 of the 2016 World Series.
Though Jaime had numerous hobbies, his favorite pastime was being with his family. Jaime was always cracking jokes, spending time outside with his children, and playing slots with his wife. He will be dearly missed, but his family is thankful he will be able to enjoy his 5 a.m. coffee and pastries with Sandra once again.

Marguerite (nee Noga) Hodek, resident of Palos Hills, passed away.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Hodek; loving mother of Michael and Barbara Hodek; cherished grandmother of Bradley and Baylee Berdell; dearest sister of the late Phillip (Marilyn) Noga; dear aunt of Gregory Noga.
Marguerite worked at the City of Palos Hills for over 43 years and was a trustee at the North Palos Fire Department.

JIREH IBARRA
Jireh Ibarra (1999 – 2024) was a loving sister, girlfriend, daughter, friend, and cat mom. She passed July 9.
Born and raised in Chicago, Jireh graduated from Noble College Prep in 2017 and later completed a degree of Psychology at the University of Michigan in 2022.
Jireh was a hardworking and caring individual who loved taking care of children. She worked at a daycare center throughout her college years and later as a nanny in Chicago. She recently started a job at a center for autistic children where she saw the need for speech pathology and grew an interest in pursuing the degree. She had just applied to a graduate program at Wayne University in Michigan. In late 2023, Jireh moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with her boyfriend Eduardo Gutierrez and his family in order to pursue those dreams. In her spare time, she loved to read, travel, try new coffee shops, and, of course, scroll on TikTok.
Jireh had a long-lasting impact on all of her friends and will be greatly missed. She was known for her goofy personality and her loving and patient nature.
She leaves behind her mother Hilda, stepfather Jose Luis, sisters: Jocelyn, Raquel, Ruth, Noemi, Jessy, and Mirna and brothers Samuel, Esteban, Richard, Danny and Luis David.

Dennis J. Kwiatkowski, 73, of Midlothian and formerly of Blue Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
He was the owner and operator of Denny’s Automotive and Machine Shop in Blue Island.

VITO VESOTA
Vito VeSota, 72, of Chicago, passed away.
He was a retired Chicago police officer.
He was the son of the late Vito V. VeSota Sr. and Lucille (Viliunas) VeSota. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Petritis), proud father of Jennifer (Ed) Leahy, and Julie VeSota, loving Papa of Noah Leahy, supportive brother of Lucille, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, neighbor, and friend.
In his early years, Vito participated in a variety of activities, including traditional Lithuanian dance and playing in the Saint Rita band, leading him to an epic trip to the Ice Bowl. As a rare walk on, Vito got to enjoy some time playing defense at the minor league level with the local football team. Vito proudly served the city he loved for 31 years, enjoyed spending time hunting with his life-long buddies, and celebrated the holidays with many Lithuanian traditions. He had a huge love of sports, cheering for the Blackhawks and White Sox, and never giving up on his Chicago Bears. Football was life. We will miss him tremendously.

VALENTINE G. ZILINSKAS
Valentine G Zilinskas (aka Žilius), 88, of Orland Park, passed away peacefully on July 21.
On August 10, 1935, Valentine was born to Antanas and Maria (Aižinas) in Kaunas, Lithuania. In September 1944, during WWII, Valentine, his sister Irene and parents moved to Germany. In 1949, at age 14, he and his family emigrated to the United States settling in the Marquette Park area. Valentine eventually moved his growing family to Hickory Hills and lived in their home for 47 years.
As a teen, Valentine was an active member of the Lithuanian Sea Scouts, where he established his love for boating. Later in life, he bought a boat and spent many weekends on Lake Michigan with family and friends.
He served in the Army and was a member of American Legion. He was an active member of the Lithuanian Masons Club where he also served as president for one year.
Valentine spent most of his career in personnel management and after retirement served the community as an auxiliary police officer for the Hickory Hills Police Department.
Valentine is survived by his wife, Dalia (aka Stella) of 65 years and his three loving children and spouses: Paul (Laura), Mark (Michele), and Karina (Ray). Valentine adored his grandchildren. Instead of grandpa, they called him “Captain” and they each were a special part of his crew. His first mate Taylor (Zachary) with great granddaughters Quinn and Wren; Jaclyn, Aaron (Megan) Sydney, Blake, Luke, Natalia and Lidia loved him and will miss him dearly.
