Will County is one of two counties in Illinois that has the county executive form of government, with its board consisting of 22 members, representing each of the 11 county board districts.
Each month they publish the “Will County Board Spotlight of the Month” that features one of its board members. It is their desire that, through this effort, each resident will have an opportunity to become better acquainted with locally elected officials.
This month the “Spotlight of the Month” features Board Member Sherry Newquist from Steger, who represents District 3.
Board Member Sherry Newquist graduated from Marian Catholic High School, Eastern Illinois University, and obtained her MBA from the University of Chicago. She is a life-long resident of the south suburbs and has been a Will County resident since 1980. Additionally, Sherry is a fourth generation Steger resident and purchased the house her grandfather built, which is next door to her great-grandfather’s bar.
Sherry has had a 28-year career on LaSalle Street, helped launch two startups, is a former restaurant/bar owner, and currently is a small business owner. She also is an active member of Friends of the Library for 25 years, board member of Steger-SCH Library – four years, Steger Village Trustee – four years, a County Board member since 2019, and the Forest Preserve Treasurer.
Sherry’s vision for Will County is: “Manage the growth of this county in a balanced manner across our industrial, agricultural, commercial, and residential assets, for the benefit of all our residents.”
