SHARON AAGAARD

Sharon Aagaard died peacefully March 18 after a prolonged illness and a life well lived. Sharon leaves behind her loving husband Kevin Aagaard, her beloved daughter Elizabeth (Liz) Vieth, her treasured granddaughter Lia Vieth, and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and good friends.

Sharon was born in the former St. Ann’s Hospital in Chicago on April 2, 1952, the only child of Lillian (Koziol) and Louis Rypel. After her mother’s death in June 1960, Sharon welcomed a wonderful stepmother into her life in November 1962: Mildred/Millie (Smoucha) Rypel. Millie died in October 1972. Louis died in November 1991.

For her professional life, Sharon chose to work as a medical technician and then as an X-ray technologist. Her contributions in the medical field spanned four decades through both direct patient service and later through teaching x-ray students for many years at Wright Junior College in Chicago. Sharon’s love of people was vibrantly alive with her family, friends, patients, and students. She enjoyed a special place in the world whenever she and Kevin were at their get-away home in Wisconsin.

In short, nothing captures who Sharon Aagaard was more than these simple descriptors: selfless, kind, and a genuinely good person.

Sharon’s immediate family, other family members, and friends met at Sheldon-Goglin-Kaminski Funeral Home at 5935 W. Belmont Ave, Chicago, April 6 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, a meaningful memorial contribution would be one given to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).

JOHN “JACK” BOEHM

John “Jack” M. Boehm, 88, passed away on March 30.

Jack was an Army veteran.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dianne Boehm (nee Baumgartner). Devoted father of Michael (Denise) Boehm, Susan (Jeff) Moore and Steven (Eileen) Boehm. Cherished grandpa of 10. And great grandpa of 8. Loving brother of Patricia (Kenneth) Stevens, the late Marie “Mitzi” (the late Donald) Molitor and the late Loretta “Letty” Boehm. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and dearest friend of many.

Jack was a lifelong South Sider.

Jack worked for 1st National Bank of Chicago for over 30 years. He retired from the bank, then spent several years as a part- time car porter at Team Chevy. He was dedicated to helping and serving others through his 45 years participation in the Fraternal Order of the Elks, Worth Village Board member, Our Lady of the Ridge finance committee, and the Neat Repeats Crisis Center Store.

He enjoyed bowling, golf, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. Jack will always be remembered as a fixture of the Worth neighborhood waving to, and greeting all passersby from his chair on the front porch.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, April 12, from 2-8 p.m. at the Schmaedeke Funeral Home, 10701 S. Harlem Ave., Worth. Chapel prayers will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 10:15 a.m. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Ridge Church, 108th and Oxford, Chicago Ridge. Interment private.

MICHAEL DONALD BYRNE

Michael Donald Byrne, of Chicago, Clearing community, passed away peacefully April 4.

He was the loving and devoted husband for 61 years to Beatrice J. (nee O’Leary); cherished father of Kathleen (Randy USCG) Jeffery, Colleen (John) McGuire, Daniel CFD (Sharyn) Byrne and the late Michael P. Byrne; much loved grandfather of Sean (Colleen) McGuffin, Kaylee McGuffin, John P., Daniel, Ryan McGuire, Makayla and Teagan Byrne; dear brother of the late Patricia (late Don) Bethke. Fond uncle of many nephews.

Visitation was held April 7, at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home April 8 until time of Prayers. Procession from the funeral home to Two Holy Martyrs Parish, St. Symphorosa Church for Mass. Michael was awarded Military Honors after the Mass.

CLEOFAS CARRILLO

With broken hearts we say goodbye to Cleofas Carrillo who passed away peacefully the morning of March 30.

She was the loving mother of Claudia Carrillo, Maria (late Jose) Rodriguez, Jessica Carrillo, Jose (Jennifer) Carrillo and Mayra Carrillo (Edgar Melgoza); cherished grandmother of Juan Hernandez, Ashley Carrillo, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Jesus Rodriguez, Liliana Rodriguez, Rosie Rodriguez, Alexis Carrillo, Alyssa Carrillo, Domanick Carrillo, Damian Melgoza, Daylan Melgoza and Deliah Melgoza and great grandmother of Jose Adolfo; beloved partner to Jose Carrillo. Cleofas was totally devoted to her family. Nothing meant more to her than her children and grandchildren and great grandchild. The love lessons and grace she provided will always remain a part of them.

Visitation was held April 3 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem) with a Service in Celebration of Cleofas’ life afterward. To know her was to love her. She will be deeply missed, always loved and forever remembered.

LUCJA GOLDA

Lucja Golda, of Chicago, passed away peacefully surrounded by family March 31.

She was born September 12, 1924 in Tczew, Poland. In 1946 married late Antoni Golda and moved to America to pursue her dream. She is survived by her three loving children, Anna (Stanley) Maria (George) and Anthony (Susan); her grandchildren Stanley (Patricia), Paul (Christine), Diane (Jack), Vickie (Sean), Jennifer (Frank), Anthony (Valerie) Ashley (Daniel); many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; siblings and their families in Poland.

Lucy was a survivor of the Holocaust, a dedicated Catholic, American citizen and the Matriarch of a proud family. Her gentle heart, forgiving personality and generous nature were traits she shared throughout her bloodline.

Lucy had a beautiful voice and loved to sing in both languages. She had a knack for crafts and was the keeper of things. She lived by the law of not wasting and cherished each possession. She challenged herself with TV game shows and crossword puzzles. Lucy was gifted a long healthy life. She may not have ventured out as much as others, however, lived through the eyes of her family and experienced the joys and journeys they shared just as equally.

A quote from Pericles: “What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others. Your legacy is that which you teach”.  In Lucy’s memory we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, a loved one OR walk in the woods for a moment. Life is about the people you have collected, the journey’s you embrace and the love you acquired. Time does not wait for anyone.

Visitation was held April 5 at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish until time of Mass. Procession from church to Resurrection Cemetery where Lucy was laid to rest.

KAZIMIERZ KOMPERDA

Kazimierz Komperda “Sewiec”, age 76, passed away March 19.

Beloved husband of Anna Komperda (nee Rzadkosz); loving father of Jacek (Elzbieta) Komperda, Katarzyna Mulica and Fr. Pawel Komperda; dearest grandfather of Natalia, Adrian, Adriana and Emilia; treasured great-grandfather of Oliver and Winifred; cherished son of the late Helena (nee Strzepek) and the late Jan Komperda; dear brother of the late Bronislaw (the late Genowefa) Komperda, the late Stanislaw (Maria) Komperda, Jan (the late Maria) Komperda, Helena (the late Ryszard) Gasienica, Mieczyslaw (Anna) Komperda, Wladyslawa (Stanislaw) Bukowski and Tadeusz (Maria) Komperda. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Proud member of Kolo #58 Zab and Kolo #81 Bustryk of the ZPPA.

Mark J. Kordalewski, age 76, passed away March 20.

Beloved husband of Helena Kordalewski (nee Rusin); loving father of George Kordalewski and Derek (Lauren) Kordalewski; dearest grandpa of Cameron Kordalewski; cherished son of the late Irena (nee Najman) and the late Mieczyslaw Kordalewski; dear brother of the late George Kordalewski and the late Christopher Kordalewski. Ann Krzywon, age 96, passed away peacefully March 19.

Beloved wife of the late Raymond; loving mother of Joanie (Ray) Hernandez, Len (Cherri) Krzywon, Casey (Deb) Krzywon, and the late Robert and Richard Krzywon, cherished grandma of Keith (Sue) Hernandez, Kim Burbach, Cathie (Laszlo) Tanka, Paul (Ashli) Krzywon, Jeff (Carolyn) Krzywon, and Courtney (Todd) Rozovics; dearest great-grandma of Jason, Sydney, Valerie, Neil, Sebastian, Elizabeth, Kate, Nevaeh, Anorah, Owen and Gabby. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Mom, you will always be in our hearts!

RALPH LOPEZ

Ralph Lopez, aged 77, went home to be with the Lord March 17.

Beloved husband of 54 years to Frances (nee Meany); loving father of Joseph (Nina) and James (Jennifer); dear grandfather of Tommy, Liam, Gabe, Joe, Aaliyah, Alleah, Alana and Allen; dear son of the late Amparo and John; loving brother to Ray, Antonia, Anthony, Al, and the late Anita and the late John; loving uncle, cousin and friend to many. 31 years as an official with the Chicago Department of Health.

Visitation was held April 6 followed immediately by a memorial service at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice.

TOMASZ PARDOL

Tomasz Pardol, age 40, passed away March 21.

Beloved son of Teresa (nee Antol), and the late Stanislaw Pardol; loving brother of Jacek (Katarzyna) Pardol, Pawel (Joanna) Pardol, Agata (Rafal) Landa, Maciej (Edyta) Pardol, Teresa (Jan) Tylka and Weronika (Mariusz) Pardol, Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.

ANDREW MICHAEL PLESNIAK

Andrew Michael Plesniak, age 97, passed away March 13.

Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Osipenko); loving father of Marlene Lees and Doreen (Robert) O’Brien; dear grandfather of Robert “Robby” (Kristen) O’Brien, Jennifer O’Brien, Kevin (Colleen) O’Brien and the late Tammy Lees (Whitman); dearest great grandfather of Margaret (Maggie), Elizabeth (Ellie) and Emmet. Alma Ruiz, age 64, passed away March 21.
