Hall of Fame volleyball coach Anna Marassa is retiring.
Marassa is the only girls volleyball coach in De La Salle’s history as she headed up the program in 2002 and racked up 538 victories, 10 regional championships and four sectional titles.
She is also the boys coach and wraps up her volleyball career this season.
Marassa was inducted into the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference’s Hall of Fame earlier this spring.
Seven members of the girls varsity volleyball team who are graduating this spring from De La Salle have earned academic and athletic scholarships to the colleges and universities of their choice.
“We fully support Coach Marassa on her decision to retire and wish her the best of everything in her future,” De La Salle athletic director Tom White said in a news release. “Coach Marassa’s teams won and lost with ample amounts of class, decency and sportsmanship and we are very thankful and honored that Anna was such an outstanding coach, mentor and leader for all the Meteors who were privileged to have played for her.”
Marassa is a Shepard graduate.
