December 30, at approximately 8:11 p.m., a traffic stop in the 25900 block of Governors Highway resulted in the arrest of Rebecca Navarro, 36, of the 300 block of Mulberry Street, Manteno, for driving with an expired registration sticker and a suspended driver’s license. Navarro was cited and released with a notice to appear.
December 31, at approximately 1:33 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Ricardo Jose Paredes Moreno, 24, of the 100 block of E. Ohio Street, in Chicago, for speeding 26-34-mph over the posted limit and no valid driver’s license. Paredes Moreno was cited and released with a notice to appear.
January 1, at approximately 6:50 a.m., a Monee Police Officer, while on the way to work on Crete-Monee Road, observed an unoccupied Cadillac sitting in the farm field directly south of the intersection of Crete-Monee Road/Steger-Monee Road. Upon arriving at work, the officer investigated the circumstances surrounding the vehicle and learned a Monee resident was car jacked at the corner of Old Monee Road and Western Avenue. The victim came to the Monee Police Department to report the carjacking and was directed to the Park Forest Police Department, because the incident happened in their town. Officers further assisted the victim by notifying the Park Forest Police Department about the location of the vehicle. The victim was not harmed, but the Cadillac was recovered with frontend damage.
January 1, at approximately 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. two vehicles were burglarized at the Red Roof Inn, 25640 S. Friendship Drive. One vehicle had a broken out rear window, but the owner advised nothing was taken. The owner of the second vehicle did not lock the car doors and discovered several items were taken from the vehicle. Monee detectives currently are investigating, and patrol has increased their presence around the hotels and business district.
January 1, at approximately 11:18 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at the Quality Inn, 5815 W. Monee-Manhattan Road. Upon arrival, officers met with a subject known to the Monee Police Department who had a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. During the dispute, the female subject picked up and threw a wooden coffee table and a flowerpot towards the front desk. The female left the scene before officers arrived, while the male subject did not know her legal name. The manager of the Quality Inn advised they did not want Monee Investigators to follow-up, however they wanted both parties banned from the property. Monee officers advised the male subject not to return, but were unable to contact the female, who was without a known name or any further information.
