Now that the summer concert season has ended, Beecher’s village board has set Nov. 29 for its annual holiday celebration, including the lighting of the holiday tree.
Trustee Brian Diachenko, chairman of the Public Properties and Community Event Committee, said he will begin coordinating the event.
“I will be sending emails to all the parties involved with planning it and getting stuff set up,” he said. “We want to work out the details and make sure everything is lined up.”
The concert series ended on Sept. 5 with Southtown Soul as the band that performed.
“We had another great turnout and another great band,” Diachenko said. “Public Works had the park ready to go. Great weather. Great turnout.
“I think the whole series this summer was a really good endeavor that we took part in.”
Earlier in the summer, the Ron Burgundy’s, Rearview and One of These Nights performed.
Beecher’s Night Out, take two
The Beecher’s Night Out has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Firemen’s Park.
The event, in which police personnel mingle with the public, will feature food and family events. It was originally scheduled for Aug. 11 but postponed because of weather-related issues.
“I am looking forward to it an engaging with the community,” Beecher Police Chief John Galvin said.

- The village’s splash pad closed for the season on Sept. 20.
- The village, which mutually severed its association with the Youth Commission this summer, gave a $9,000 donation to the organization.
- Beecher adopted an ordinance agreeing with Will County regarding the use of the Will County right of way for placement of license plate reading cameras.
