December 5, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Daveon Smith, 21, of the 1100 block of W. Merchant Street, Kankakee, for driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license. Smith was cited and released with a notice to appear.
December 7, at approximately 3:17 p.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run property damage incident. A white SUV, possibly a Jeep Compass, turned from Margaret Street onto Countyfair, hitting the front end of a Mustang stopped at the stop sign. The impact caused the White Jeep to drive onto the property at the corner of Margaret and Countyfair. The driver of the Jeep failed to stop and continued off the grass back onto the street and south on Countyfair. The Monee Police Department has increased patrol presence in that area, and detectives are investigating the incident.
December 7, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a traffic stop on the 1300 block of Hamilton resulted in the arrest of James Wilder, 53, of the 26000 block of S. Winston Lane, Crete, for driving with suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, and speeding. Wilder was cited and released with a notice to appear.
December 9, at approximately 10:11 a.m., officers met with a Monee resident regarding a forgery complaint. The victim advised somebody cashed three separate checks for a total of $1,500. After making alterations, the offender used the same check from the victim three times. The Monee resident (victim) used the Monee Postal service to mail a check to pay a utility bill.
December 10, at approximately 3:27 p.m., officers responded to the Amazon Fulfillment Center, 6605 W. Monee-Manhattan Road, for a theft. Officers met with the loss prevention officer, who had a subject in their office accused of taking an Apple watch and air pods. Officers arrested Keelan Dawson, 25, of 104 W. 15th Street, Chicago Heights, for theft. Dawson was taken to the Monee Police Department, where he was processed and released with a notice to appear.
December 11, at approximately 1 p.m., officers responded to the Petro Travel Center, 5915 W. Monee-Manhattan Road, for a report of a delayed theft. Upon arrival, officers met with the day manager, who said he received a call from a customer who said his fleet credit card was used to purchase $1,500 in fuel from the Petro but did not authorize the purchase. Monee Detectives are investigating.
