Did you know that artist Georgia O’Keeffe was 77 years old when she created her wonderful painting “Sky Above the Clouds”? This enormous painting is 24 feet long. O’Keeffe was inspired by the view from a plane. Her painting was gifted to the Art Institute in 1983. A visit to the Art Institute is not complete without a visit to what I call the cloud painting.

We are never too old to create something beautiful.

Best wishes to West Lawn Little League as they begin their fall season at West Lawn Park. New lights were recently installed at their pee-wee field, and that means night games will take place. I’ve reached out twice to the League for a game schedule, but have not heard back yet. If I do find out anything, I’ll share the information with you as soon as possible. Watching an autumn night game sounds like fun.

Thank you to all the volunteers who donate to and maintain the Love Fridge at 6601 S. Pulaski. Many residents in West Lawn need a little extra food from time to time. The Love Fridge is there to provide free food seven days a week and 24 hours a day. Take what you need and donate what you can.

A dear friend told me about a food truck with a sign outside that says “Buy one burger for the price of two and receive a second burger absolutely free!”

What a bargain!
