With summer on the wane, the Midway Chamber of Commerce is kicking its seasonal slate of activities into high gear.
First up is the MCC’s 7th Annual Golf Outing, set for noon Friday, Sept. 15 at Stony Creek Golf Course, 5850 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn. The day will feature a modified shotgun start.
Those participating will enjoy 18 holes of golf, goody bags and prizes. After golf, all are invited to a buffet dinner with an open bar.
The complete package is $160 per golfer, $600 for a foursome.
For those not hitting the links, there is a dinner-only package (with a two-hour open bar) for $50 per person.
Bar, Taco crawls coming
The Chamber’s annual Bar Crawl is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30.

This year’s event features seven Garfield Ridge bars: Lawlor’s, Bobby G’s, ASH Gastropub, Tom’s Tap, Danny’s Pizza, Guide’s Sports Bar and Pap’s Tap.
Those age 21 and up are invited to participate for $60 per person, $50 per person for a beer-only option. The registration fee includes six drinks (one per bar, plus a shot-only at Pap’s Tap), event t-shirt and party-bus transportation.

Finally, Chamber officials are planning the MCC’s first-ever Taco Crawl, to be held sometime in October.
Restaurants with a flair for Mexican fare are invited to participate. As many as 50 local diners will visit participating restaurants and sample a taco at each.
Restaurant owners and managers are invited to send an email to garfieldridgecc@live.com to inquire about participating.
“These crawls are designed to showcase businesses in the Midway area,” MCC President Mary Ellen Brown said. “These are excellent opportunities for businesses to put their best foot forward, and these crawls are one way the Chamber encourages Midway-area residents to spend locally and keep their dollars right here in the community.”
