Speeding motorists are no match for Lyons resident Kyle Comstock and the police.
About one month after alerting the village board about his concerns regarding motorists speeding down his street, Comstock, who lives with his family in the 8000 block of White Avenue, reports that things are much better.
Comstock, 32, spoke during the public comment portion of the village board meeting on July 18.
“I want to thank you for everything you did, making sure people no longer speed down my street,” Comstock said.
At the board meeting on June 20, Comstock brought his concerns about drivers speeding down White Avenue between Joliet and Lawndale avenues. His son is a toddler. Comstock worried about the boy’s safety when outdoors.
That caught the attention of Mayor Christopher Getty and Police Chief Thomas Herion, who instructed officers to pay closer attention to speeders on White Avenue.
After the meeting, Comstock said that an increased police presence has indeed made a difference.
“I haven’t had any problems happen since I brought it here. I’m happy with that,” he said. “I can sleep better at night, especially since my 2-year-old son can now undo our deadbolt locks.”
