Here’s a follow-up on an item from last week. I mentioned all the calls I get about passport problems and I said that I’d share some information as soon as I could get it. A dear friend gave me a phone number to call.1-877-487-2778. She also shared the informational website, www.travel.state.gov.
A big thank you to my friend Rose F from the Calvary Senior Club. She let me know that the empty lot at Lawndale Avenue and 63rd Street is in the 23rd Ward and not the 13th Ward as I had previously reported. This lot has been a garbage filled mess for years. Things like this bring down property values and it makes the 23rd Ward look shabby. I am hoping the alderman can help attract a business to this site.
The empty strip mall at 63rd Street and Knox that I reported on continues to be a bleak eyesore in the 13th Ward.
Moving on to some great news. Congratulations to my friend Anissa Franco, a student at John Hancock High School. Anissa was recently accepted into the National Society of Scholars. Anissa, I am so proud of you and I know that your family is pleased and proud as well.
We always hear about the teenagers who are involved in gang violence and breaking laws. Anissa is proof that not all teenagers choose to waste their time in destructive activities.
Thank you Anissa for your hard work in school and also for the volunteer work you do!
