Former Lyons trustee Patricia Alonzi dies
Patricia A. Alonzi (nee Conte) formerly Horn, 85, of Lyons passed away peacefully Sunday, July 16, at her daughter Tricia’s home in Homer Glen due to her ongoing medical conditions.
Pat was a longtime village trustee in Lyons.
She was the beloved wife of the late Michael L. Alonzi. Loving mother of Deborah Horn, Edwin (Michelle, nee Milka) Horn Jr., Patricia, nee Horn (William Sr.) Nixon; grandmother of William Nixon Jr.; Ashley Nixon, Allison Nixon, Christopher Nixon, Jessica Jarosz, Justin Jarosz, Jeffery (Ylse, nee Bear) Jarosz; great grandmother of Nathen VanDeveer, Tabitha Nixon, Beckham Nixon-Simonis and Julia Jarosz; sister of MaryLynn (David) Spicer, Gina Feagler and the late Lawrence Conte; aunt and great aunt of many.
While raising a family, Pat’s dedication was not only to family but community. Pat was one of the first female police dispatchers and worked for the Lyons Police Department for 13 years.
She was the owner for 18 years of Alonzi’s Restaurant in Brookfield and served as a trustee for the Village of Lyons for 12 years.
She resigned from the village board in January for health reasons.
“We definitely wanted her on the board,” Mayor Chris Getty said when she resigned. “She cultivated the neighbors and cared about the community having lived here for so long. Her one husband had built houses in the area.
“She was part of the community, cared about things. She stayed in the loop on everything,” Getty said. “We miss her.”
A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Committal Chapel, 1400 S. Wolf Road in Hillside. Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Christ the King Mausoleum.
