We welcome March – does it come in like a lion or a lamb?
“Beware the Ides of March”, Shakespeare. The quote refers to betrayal and the day Julius Caesar was assassinated. However, we do not have to beware until March 15. And we never have to beware of the pop band Ides of March, which was named after the Shakespeare quote, while we sing along to Vehicle!
Thank you to the custodian and maintenance workers that have been around Peck School the week past. They hopped on board their Genie S60 and fixed the outdoor lights. It was pretty dark and scary walking around the school those long winter nights – but now the school is lit up like a Christmas tree! (The Genie s60 is a man lift, ideal for working at heights.)
Soon time will be changing and there will be longer daylight along with more joggers and dog walkers. I hand it to our standard dog walkers who come out in the cold and dark every evening – the terrier group, Sparky, Fit, Cheese, Buddy, Kratos, Loki and Oliver’s sweetheart, Miley, just to name a few.
If you graduated from Curie High School in the class of 1983, a reunion is being planned. The date is July 22 from 7 to 11:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago SW-Burr-Ridge, 300 S. Frontage Road, Burr Ridge. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com/e/536644667647.

Join Chicago Artopia for a free concert at the West Lawn Branch Library, 4020 W. 63rd St., this Saturday, March 4. The musician/artist is David Chiriboga featuring Spanish guitar. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and is one in a series. I will mention more in April.
Thanks to Chicago Lawn (8th) District Police Commander Bryan Spreyne, Sgt. Matt Malloy and the officers of our district. They recently came out to meet with members of the West Elsdon community for Conversations with a Commander, to discuss the community’s safety.
