A long-standing annual tradition that has gone on for decades now has returned to Bourbonnais. By proclamation of Mayor Paul Schore and the village board at their Monday, February 6 meeting, the week of of February 5-11 was declared Scout Week.
Normally, Cub and Boy Scouts from local Pack 324 would participate in Scout Leadership Day during the designated week, but Schore said a scheduling conflict associated with school activities for the boys delayed that event until Wednesday, February 22. On that day, Scouts will learn, hands on with various department heads, how village government functions and the services it provides to Bourbonnais residents.
Pack 324 is chartered by Friends of the Village of Bourbonnais, an organization with close links to village staff. Mayor Paul Schore is the village representative on their board and also is a former Scoutmaster. Both of his sons are Eagle Scouts.
