Man found with illegal automatic weapon at party
Frederick Janek Boyd, 20, of the 3400 block of West 74th Street, faces gun charges after police found him with an illegal handgun when they broke up a rowdy party at 2:21 a.m. Aug. 30, in the 6400 block of South Mozart Avenue.
Patrol officers noticed a large crowd drinking in an alley and observed Boyd manipulating something in his waistband. The object was a handgun equipped with an illegal switch that converted it to automatic fire.
Boyd was charged with misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon and felony aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon.
Woman charged in stabbing at home
Kimberly Alejandra, 28, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery when police responded to a disturbance at her home at 2:43 a.m. Sept. 3, in the 6200 block of South Whipple Street.
A 29-year-old woman arrived at the Chicago Lawn (8th) District station bleeding from stab wounds she said Alejandra inflicted during a fight at the home. Police arrested Alejandra at the house and also charged her with battery for allegedly threatening a 34-year-old man during the same incident.
Man charged with criminal trespassing after displaying fake lease
Abdessamad Mejdoubi, 28, of the 6000 block of North Elston Avenue, was charged with criminal trespassing to a residence following an incident at 12:05 a.m. Sept. 1, in the 6200 block of South Western Avenue.
Police were called after Mejdoubi entered an occupied residence and claimed to be the legal renter. He displayed a fake lease for the property. Police said it was unclear at the time of his arrest whether he was attempting fraud or had been victimized by it.
Repeat offender arrested for retail theft at Walgreens
Angel Alcantar, 37, of the 6400 block of South Troy Street, was charged with felony retail theft when he was arrested at 9:25 p.m. Aug. 31, in the 6400 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
Police responded to a theft in progress at Walgreens, 6315 S. Kedzie Ave., and said Alcantar matched the suspect description and was carrying stolen merchandise worth more than $300. Store employees identified him as a repeat offender at the location.
Man arrested after attack on woman
Mario Santiago, 27, of the 7000 block of South Fairfield Avenue, was charged with aggravated domestic battery when police responded to a disturbance at his home at 12:31 a.m. Sept. 3.
Police said Santiago came out of the house with blood on his arms after allegedly attempting to strangle a 24-year-old woman during a fight. The woman, who had blood on her face, said he grabbed her around the neck.
Passenger charged after gun found in car during traffic stop
Damarius T. Cocroft, 26, of the 1800 block of Birmingham Place, Plainfield, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle following a traffic stop at 6:42 p.m. Sept. 6, in the 3500 block of West 63rd Street.
Police said Cocroft was a passenger in the back seat and they observed him trying to hide something in his waistband. During a patdown search, officers discovered a handgun.
Cocroft was also charged with resisting arrest after he pulled away and swung his arms as officers were handcuffing him.
Man charged with domestic battery
Juan Carlos Mandujano, 31, was charged with domestic battery when police responded to a disturbance at his home at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 5, in the 3400 block of West 62nd Place.
Police said Mandujano allegedly punched a 40-year-old woman on the right side of her face during an altercation.
