Sale of License Plate Stickers: The Kankakee Public Library staff, 201 E. Merchant Street in Kankakee, remind the community that license plate stickers are available for purchase on the third floor of the library. Patrons may bring renewal information to the library and purchase their vehicle sticker, much like they do at the DMV.
The entire process can be completed in just a few minutes. All that’s needed is the renewal information. The cost is the regular sticker price, plus a $5 processing fee. Cash or credit card is accepted.
Love A Latte Coffee Pop-up: Love A Latte will be at the library for three coffee pop-ups throughout February! On February 1, 8, and 15, from 9 a.m. to noon, they’ll be selling a variety of hot and iced drinks on the first floor of the library, including coffees, ciders, lattes, and hot chocolate. This is a fun way to support a local business and grab a coffee in the midst of your day.
Alan Hampshire Presents New Art Exhibit at Library: Local Artist Alan Hampshire brings a new exhibit to the third floor of the library, beginning Wednesday, February 1. The exhibit, “Martha’s Vineyard: America’s Premiere African American Resort,” showcases Oak Bluffs, which was a retreat for successful African-Americans.
In fact, Maya Angelou described Oak Bluffs as “a safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” During the Harlem Renaissance, black writers would often visit Martha’s Vineyard for inspiration. This exhibit begins with a beautiful painting of the famous ship “The Amistad.” Meet the artist on Wednesday, February 1, at 10 a.m. – stop by to see the art anytime the library is open.
“Crafting Connection:” Join us at the library on Friday, February 3, at 1:30 p.m., as the library partners with Catholic Charities for an afternoon of crafting fun! The group will be making a Valentine’s Day puzzle wreath. This class is for adults 60 and older. All materials are free! To register, please contact Kelli at Catholic Charities at 815-933-7794, ext. 9910, by Wednesday, February 1.
