John K. Halvorson, 79, of Bradley, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at his home. Born April 16, 1943, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, he was the son of Clarence and Mary (Sabol) Halvorson. John married Linda Lambert on October 19, 2018, at American Lutheran Church in Bourbonnais.
John was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict and was a lottery representative for the State of Illinois. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite, and Shriner and served as past director of the IMP Royal Order of Jesters, past King Crab Benevolent Order of Crabs, and assistant director of the Shrine Club. He enjoyed traveling and watching his grandsons play hockey. John also was a very active member of the American Lutheran Church in Bourbonnais, serving on the console for more than 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Halvorson of Bradley; son, Kyle Halvorson of Mokena; stepdaughter, Jennifer Hobbs of Kansas City, Kansas; sister, Mary Halvorson of Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Kamdyn and Kaden Halvorson. John was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Diane Marie Halvorson; his parents; brother, Knute Halvorson; and sister, Gertrude Myers.
A funeral service was held on January 8, at American Lutheran Church in Bourbonnais, followed immediately by a Masonic service. Private family interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
