Two drivers found asleep at the wheel
James A. Nehring, 61, of Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police found him asleep at the wheel of a running car in a driveway at 12:42 p.m. Sept. 17 in the 5200 block of West Avery Place. Officers took his keys. He dmitted drinking but refused field sobriety tests and a breath sample. He is due in court Nov. 2.
Tomasz Kogut, 47, of Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police found him asleep at the wheel at 11:20 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 8900 block of South McVicker Avenue. He failed field sobriety tests and refused a breath sample. Kogut was also cited for transporting open alcohol and stopping in a roadway. He is due in court Sept. 30.
Man charged with felony retail theft at Walgreens
Giovanny A. Granados, 28, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft at 8:44 p.m. Sept. 9 at Walgreens, 10639 S. Cicero Ave. Police identified him as a suspect in a similar theft at the store on Sept. 3. He fled in a car but was arrested in a traffic stop in the 10700 block of South Kenneth Avenue. Officers recovered 96 cosmetic items worth $734. . He was due in court Sept. 11.
Repeat offender charged with burglary at Walgreens
Domineek J. Buckner, 28, of Chicago, was charged with felony burglary after allegedly stealing beer and soft drinks from Walgreens, 4740 W. 95th St., at 7:33 p.m. Sept. 8. Police detained him a couple of blocks away carrying two cans of stolen beer and drinking a stolen can of soda. The charge was elevated to felony burglary because Buckner is a repeat offender and had been prohibited from entering the store since last year. He was due in court Sept. 9.
Jewel employee charged with stealing alcohol
Justin M. Siorek-Boldrey, 28, of Oak Lawn, was charged with theft at Jewel, 9424 S. Pulaski Road, at 7:47 p.m. Sept. 4. Staff said he was an employee of the store. Surveillance cameras showed him taking bottles of alcohol worth about $104 from a back room and concealing them in Jewel bags. Staff said he had committed a similar theft on Sept. 3. He is due in court Oct. 16.
DUI charge follows three-car crash
Taneesha Shareen Williams, 46, of East Chicago, Ind., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after allegedly causing a three-car accident at 8:17 p.m. Sept. 6 in the 10300 block of South Cicero Avenue. Airbags deployed in all three cars; no injuries were reported. Police said Williams failed field sobriety tests and registered 0.136 blood-alcohol content on a breath test. She was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without insurance. She is due in court Oct. 7.
