The dog issue that had a group of Beecher residents in the Woodward Street area concerned has been muzzled.
Residents complained of vicious dogs at a residence in the neighborhood causing harm and voiced their feelings at the Sept. 28 Beecher Board of Trustees meeting.
Since that meeting, there was another incident.
At the Oct. 13 meeting, Police Chief John Galvin said the situation had been taken care of.
“It has been remedied,” Galvin said. “Those two dogs have been relocated out of the house permanently. The dogs are gone and the issue should be settled. “
Residents said it was a problem most of the year, and the dogs attacked people as well as other animals.
TruGolf coming?
Vic Reato, owner of the Silver Screen Vapes shop at 759 W. Indiana Ave., is seeking a liquor license and a license to run video gaming machines for a TruGolf facility next door.
“I would like to start out with two stations and once the space becomes more available…I anticipate having 8-10 stations there.
“I think it could be a nice place for people to come and relax in the spring and the winter,” he said. “There are quite a few golfers in the area, and I think it would turn out pretty well.”
The board put the request on its Oct. 19 agenda for discussion and possible action.
Administrative changes
Due to a reporting error in the Oct. 8 Vedette, Charity Mitchell was not approved for a contract as village administrator.
Her job will be taken over by Public Works Superintendent Matt Conner. Adam Held has been named the new superintendent.
Tree lighting set
The village made it official – the holiday tree lighting ceremony will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Fireman’s Park.
The festivities will include a parade of lights, an appearance by Santa Claus, crafts, music and food.
